Tape measurement is occasionally used as an initial guide but not reliable as bras fit differently due to variety in brands and styles. Branese fitter will take a look at the bra you have on and advise on back size or cup size adjustment.
Back Size (Band 30 – 46) The bra support is mostly around the body; therefore, the band must be firm yet very comfortable. A loosely fitted band rides up the back and provides no support. A perfect fit should lie horizontally across the back.
Cup Size (D – J) Your perfect cup size encloses all your boobs with no bulging at the sides or top of the bra. If this happens, step-up the cup size (from D – DD) or step-down the cup size if the fabric wrinkles (from D – C). At the same time, the underwire should be flat on your chest bone separating the boobs. Ensure the underwire does not sit on any breast tissues.
It is advisable to get fitted every six (6) months as our bodies undergo changes.
Helpful Tips to a Perfect Fitting Bra!!
1. Band fits horizontally:Bra band should lay firmly at the same level all the way round your body. No riding up! The band is the main support of the Bra.
2. Underwire lays flat at the front: The front center should lay flat against the breastbone. If it doesn’t, go up a cup size.
3. Underwire sits on the side ribcage: Confirm the wire at the side of the bra sits on the ribcage, not digging into any breast tissues.
4. Fasten on the first hook: For a new bra, it is advised to use the first and the loosest hook; after a period of long-term use, you may need to adjust to the mid and last hook after long wear.
5. Fill your cups but don’t overflow:Go down a cup size if cups are not filled with breast. Meanwhile, go up a cup size if spilling on the top or sides. Spilling over does make boobs appear bigger (use gel-filled or padded push-up bras for that). In many cases, one breast is larger. In such situation, choose the cup size that fits the larger breast.
6. Straps lays on not digging in your shoulders:The strap is not the main support of your bra. Straps will dig in if the Band size is not correct. This causes shoulders and back ache.
7. Finger rules: A correct fit allows two fingers under the back band, and one finger under the center front. The finger rule of thumb!!!
8. Wear a t-shirt over: To see the final fit, wear a t-shirt over to see from all angles how it fits. This should expose a nice posture and a longer torso.
9. Move around: Move around, sit and stand, stretch to check the bra feels comfortable.
